Acrylic on Plastic

Message of the piece:

This piece represents how everybody has different sides to them and to look at things in different perspectives.

Artist's Statement:

This piece is meant to be a moveable piece  so I chose to so it on plastic. This limited the type of supplies I could use and I settled for Acrylic paint. Acrylic dries fast so I didn't want to worry about blending so I made it more messy. I didn't plan a lot for the piece so none of the plastic sheets were the same size. It was fun to paint in such a free way. Because it is on plastic, when I moved the face panel onto the dark background, it looked dull and spots were peaking through so I made another layer of just light paint to put behind the face. The piece was difficult to set up since the plastic was flimsy so I hotglued sticks to make a "frame". It added the structure. I also added four dots on each panel so I could line up the panels everytime. It was a difficult project and next time, I would plan first.
