Artist's Statement:

For this piece, I wanted to try a different skin color than the ones I've been painting so I decided to try this one. I really liked the colors in this piece. After drawing the main piece, I felt the background was missing something so I painted lined art of men. I made the expression on the woman's face look really strong and un-bothered even though the men around her are angry and yelling at her. when I was painting this, I changed the positioning of the legs from the reference photo but I had trouble getting the shape and lighting right. Especially with the feet, I really struggled. I had fun drawing the men through since I haven't drawn plain lined things in a really long time. I got too used to shading and realism so this was fun.
