Memories
Oil on Canvas
Message of the piece:
For this piece, I was inspired by young children. We as people can't remember things exactly as it was. I learned that the more we thought of a memory, the more we changed the memory. Especially for children, their memory is very impressionable and malleable.

Artist's Statement:
Because a child's memory is most changeable, I decided for a child to be the main focus. To ensure this, the little boy is more warm toned compared to everything around him and he is the only realistically painted object. The things around him, which represent the memory, I painted in an abstract way with a palate knife, The texture of the paint shows how malleable everything is. The background was really fun to paint but the girl's face was really challenging. Originally, the background and the face were completely texture white paint but it looked incomplete so I added the colors. Also, on TV, whenever producers try to hide a person's identity, they cross out the eyes so I decided to do the same This also shows how in the child's memory, they can't remember people clearly.
