Baby's Touch

Acrylic Paint, cotton balls, yarn, fabric

Final Piece:

Artist's Statement:

Recently, my cousin gave birth to a baby girl and I was inspired to do a baby related piece. While babies develop, it is important for them to explore the world not only through sight, but by touch so I created an interactive piece. I first did a quick sketch in color and started to sew on top of it. I've done a sewn piece before and the canvas texture was just like the fabric I used before.  I originally planned to sew the whole thing but that was too much so I only sewed the shadows. For more texture, I used cotton balls for the ears and I connected it using the felting technique with needles. The background was too plain so I decided to cut it out. My dad got scared when he saw me stab the painting with a knife. I proceeded by adding fabrics to the background and bunching the fabric up for even more texture.
